Dandelion is great for detoxing the liver! It is also chock full of vitamins A, B, C, and D, as well as minerals such as iron, potassium, and zinc. Dandelion leaves are used to add flavor to salads, sandwiches, and teas. The roots are used in some coffee substitutes, and the flowers are used to make wines.
I have found the dandelion root a great substitute for coffee. My Coconut Magic Latte recipe is also a great way to get your daily dose of coconut oil. This healthy drink can be taken as often as you like. Unlike coffee, it doesn’t cause dehydration or acidity in the body. When blended with coconut oil, Coconut Magic Latte makes a delicious creamy like café latte drink. It can be the perfect cleansing, energizing, and nutritive rich way to start your day, or many have told me they like the afternoon pick me up energy that this drink provides.
Ingredients:
1 tbs dandelion root per serve
¾ cup hot water per serve
½ tsp vanilla essence
1 - 2 tbs coconut oil
1 tsp coconut sugar or coconut nectar (sweeten to taste)

1. Using a coffee plunger, brew the dandelion in hot water for 2-3 minutes.
2. Once brewed, add all ingredients to the blender, and blend for 30 seconds or until the mixture becomes creamy and frothy.
3. Serve immediately.
